What did students do today?
"Today, students completed a matching activity to define the elements of a game and identified the elements in the game of soccer. All groups but three, got the matching correct on the first round. And then we went over the activity, so they could correct their mistakes. Then we went over the procedures regarding the use of the adroids. They later played the location based game outside.

Some students blogged at the end of the day, and some participated in a discussion after the game about what they liked and anything else that made the game special. "
What challenges (in terms of the design process) were encountered today?
"Technological challenges- For some students, and staff (Emma) it wasn't clear that you needed to go to the map to get started. Some students had to back track. And not everyone finished. It was unclear to some students, why they lost the game (by NOT dropping the tennis ball)”
What did facilitators do to help students work through those design challenges?
"We allowed certain students to go back to the beginning of the game, to start over- because they were disconnected from the group they were not able to finish. Some students followed other groups to get their to work, instead of waiting patiently or asking for help, OR even trying to figure it out. "
What was the outcome of that intervention?
"Grouping students was decided upon at the last minute which made it hectic to keep groups together. Did they actually read? There was a lot of running, we weren't able to tell whether students were reading though they did get excited when they heard the ding or when they met a new character. "
What challenges in terms of interpersonal collaboration were encountered today?
"We tried to demonstrate a procedure of how to hold and pass it. We could've let them practice before going outside. "
What did facilitators do to help students work through those interpersonal challenges? What was the outcome of that intervention?
We need to go over the idea of a location based game, and why it's special. Not all students fully comprehended the idea.
Anything else to note about this session?
